Internet of Things as Theory of Media and Information

a.) In your own words, define the Internet of Things.

 

                > The Internet of Things is a concept that everything around us are interconnected and not just in a sense where electricity are connected to everything.

 

 b.) What brought this theory about?

 

                > Because technology has developed rapidly in recent decades, the technology has become much smarter, more compact in size and also convenient to use. With the development of technology, brings the Internet, something that is included in our daily life and we can not imagine a life without it. Therefore, while devices such as mobile phones begin to connect to the Internet, the tools will be followed. The necessary materials, such as microprocessors or hard disks, are now cheap and tiny compared to those of the new ones and, as such, allow the creation of small devices such as clocks or thermostats to connect to the Internet. no dramatic change from the ordinary model.

c.) Do you like the concept of IoT? Why or why not?

 

                > Yes, This will allow easier access to the devices that we have at home and will make my life comfortable and convenient. It also means that certain functions for different devices will grow to master what the device does. For example, Amazon created a button that allows you to order a particular item in your home with a single click. The buttons refer to which product you are buying such as Tide or other detergents. Amazon can create more buttons for different types of products or machine manufacturers can implement a function that works like the Amazon button but only for related products.

 

d.) In what situations do you encounter IoT in the Philippines?

 

                > There are many things that I can consider here like consoles that are made for not just gaming but also to search the world wide web with voice features and has more functions that just gaming. There's also information panels in shopping malls, Wi-Fi enabled CCTVs and much more.

e.) How do you think IoT will evolve and affect Filipino society in the next 3 to 5 years?

 

                > The ability to connect to the internet you can get more tools and if Google launches its products here officially, there will be recognition of voice of the smart devices that can help you to obtain information, determine the climate, check the condition of the local time, and ask for the fast food restaurant nearest you. Provide convenience to consumers and will give you control over how to use the devices and not every one of them is started manually.

f.) What do you think is the relationship/cause and effect of IoT in media and information literacy?

 

                > loT is connected to the media and information literacy so that IOT is now connected to the Internet and you must follow the guidelines and the appropriate tag in use, such as the devices. The manufacturers can track their data and statistics and can use them to help businesses to sell their products in relation to the USA. This relationship even shows that people should carefully study the things that make on the Internet or with smart devices because the devices remain weak and the information you provide can be extended and cannot be deleted.
